Playa Virador is a beautiful beach dominated by the Four Seasons Hotel but, like all beaches in Costa Rica, it is a public facility. The bay is open to the northwest but the reef on the west side of Playa Virador protects it from some of the southerly swell.

The northern side of the bay is sheltered from weather from the north and east. Anchor in 4.3m on a sandy bottom with good holding.

The Four Seasons resort boasts five restaurants, golf course, spa, gym and also has an ATM.

Playa Prieta lies 0.5NM north of the Four Seasons Hotel on the north side of Punta Mala. It is open to the west but is a great anchorage in calm conditions with no swell. The beach has white sand and beautiful clear water, it gets crowded with day trippers especially at weekends.

The bay is surrounded by the Four Seasons Golf Club and has been preserved from further development.

Anchor in 2.6m on sand. Watch out for rocks in the northern part of the bay. Dinghy ashore care when the swell is breaking on the beach.

None. The private Prieta Beach Club is part of the Four Seasons development on the Papagayo Peninsula. It is for members only.
